Here are tips to keep in mind

No “mild” with diabetes.

If you have diabetes, it means 50 percent of the cells in the pancreas are destroyed. Consequently, it increases blood sugar with an excess of 105 mg/dl.

Avoid sweets and fat.

According to Dr. Augusto Litonjua, the Father of Diabetes Medicine in the Philippines, not all foods are prohibited to people with diabetes. Reduce the consumption of sweets and cholesterol foods.

Avoid drinking ice tea, soft drinks, and cappuccino. Plain water is the best!

Did you know that drinking a glass of ice tea every day increases your weight? It actually increases at about one pound per week? A glass of soft drink is equivalent to seven teaspoons of sugar. Sweetness overload indeed! Water is still the best because it has zero calories.

Apples and pears for fruit diet.

Many have the wrong connotation about fruit. They believe that we can eat all the fruits. Fruits such as mango, pineapple, grapes, avocados, and lychees are fattening. Don’t eat too much mango, a piece is enough for a meal. In eating grapes, six pieces are enough. The fruits that are healthy to eat are apple, pear, and banana. Eat moderately!

Take only one cup of rice and a small dish

There are patients who cannot eat rice and it’s not advisable. Off course we need to take carbohydrates. Our bodies need also carbohydrates for a balanced diet. The solution is to limit the amount of food. The small amount of Dish or vegetables, one cup of rice is okay. Strict compliance is really a must!
